What do you like about working at Valspar?
I've learned to really enjoy Valspar and the fact that they empower the employee. They really let the employee make the decisions. They trust you to make good decisions, and as a result I think that allows their employees to grow and develop and expand.
Tell us a little more about your experience at Valspar.
When I first came to Valspar 18 years ago, I thought that paint was nothing more than what you slapped on the wall and then I quickly found out there's more to it. There are two business groups in Coil, Coil and Extrusion. The Coil goes to a special coater who unrolls it, who applies the paint to it, bakes it on at high temperatures, rolls it back up and then sends it out to be fabricated into its final forms such as metal building products, appliances, lighting fixtures, things of that nature. On the Extrusion side, the metal is already extruded into its final format such as windows and then the paint is spray applied, baked on again and then sent out to be its end use.
